The Janome Button Shank Plate (often referred to as a “jean-a-ma-jig”) was originally designed to be used when sewing on buttons where a larger thread shank is needed especially for Jackets and Coats. However, it has become increasingly popular as an aid to overcoming the problems of thick seams such as those found on Denim Jeans. Most sewers have experienced the problem of thick seams either when dressmaking or doing home furnishings. With the Janome Button Shank Plate, you can prevent either end up with a run of tiny stitches, or worst yet, breaking you needle by simply inserting the Janome version of the jean-a-ma-jig behind the presser foot when the thick seam approaches.
