Equipped with a small funnel to fold and guide the binding over the fabric edge, this foot produces a decorative option for finishing a hem. As you are able to use this foot with any stitch pattern, you can create hems to suit your style. 10 mm to 14 mm bias tape can be used.

As each foot in the Premium Accessories range is built to the exact specifications and quality standards set by Janome, you can rest assured that your machine (and your budget) will approve of the Premium range.

Tips for Using the Binder Foot on a Janome Sewing Machine

Supplies Required:

  • Janome Sewing Machine
  • Binder Foot
  • Hemming Tape or Bias Stripes (10 to 14mm wide)
  • Fabric
  • Sewing thread and bobbin
  • Tailors Awl (Optional, but recommended)
  • Iron (Optional, but recommended)

Tips:

  1. Iron the material and the hemming tape before binding. This will make it easier to attach the binding.
  2. When inserting the binding into the foot, cut the edge of the hemming tape at a 45-degree angle and use a tailor’s awl to push the tape through the foot initially.
  3. Start stitching 1cm before the fabric (on the bias tape only). This will ensure that the exposed stitching on the project is consistent throughout the hem.
  4. Stitch slowly. Set your machine to a slow speed so that you can guide the fabric.
