Janome Purple Tip Needles

Our purple tip needle is a size 14 needle (#90); this needle prevents skipped stitches when sewing heavy fabrics including knits in ordinary sewing and when embroidering. It features a ball point tip* which helps to create neat and tidy stitches.

USED FOR

  • Embroidery with high density designs and/or thick fabrics.
  • Use with fluffy threads like cotton.
  • Quilting through multiple layers.
  • Normal sewing of flexible and pliable fabrics such as knits and tricot. (Tricot fabric has a unique weave that allows it to be smooth on one side, with texture on the other side. This
makes the fabric sturdy, yet soft. Tricot fabrics are perfect for luxurious lingerie, apparel, and linings.)
  • Sewing synthetic fabrics such as polyester.

*The ball point tip is especially useful when sewing knitted fabric and synthetic fabrics as it prevents fabric
thread breakage.

Border Guide Foot

Having problems lining up or evenly spacing your border designs? Now the Border Guide Foot helps you to easily match up your border designs with the red lines of the foot. No need to mark every row beforehand! The secret to the border guide foot lies in the red guide marks. The two sets of vertical red lines are calibrated to allow perfect spacing of rows. The horizontal red line matches the needle drop so you can line up the start of each row.
The small red mark denotes the centre of the design for lining up with the marking for the first row.

September – Janome Concealed Zipper Foot

Concealed Zipper Foot - 9mm

Concealed Zipper Foot

In the realm of all zippers, the invisible or concealed zipper is actually the easiest to install. The key is to get the needle as close to the fastener as possible, which this foot accomplishes by slightly unrolling the zipper just before the needle. Once fitted, a well sewn invisible zipper will merely look like part of the seam.
Good quality ready to wear garments will often have an invisible zip fitted. These zippers are often neglected by the home dressmaker which is a pity because they can ensure success every time! Invisible zips are suita-ble for all fabrics from fine silk jersey through to suit weight wools and tweeds. You can also use an invisible zip in your home décor projects such as cushions or bags.

Janome Quilt Binder Set

Quilt Binder Set

The Quilt Binder Set is the perfect accessory for quick and trouble-free binding, with a superior design based on industrial binding attachments. The cone at the front of the fabric holder feeds and folds the fabric for a ½” finished binding. Adjust the two upper screws to align the binding’s top and bottom folds with the needle for extra precision. Set them at the same length for a straight stitch, or set the bottom a bit further than the top for a blanket stitch. The set creates straight line binding for large quilts and also adds an eye-catching accent to any small items such as placemats!

7mm Rolled Hem Foot for Janome Machines

Hemming Foot

The hemmer foot, sometimes referred to as the rolled hemmer, is used to stitch the narrow rolled hems usually found
on shirt tails, table linens and along the edge of frills. The hemmer is designed with a scroll shaped feeder on top and
a straight groove on the underside which determines the width of the finished hem. The 4mm / 6mm Set will allow for
the use of heavier fabrics.

Janome Cording foot for attaching decorative cord to fabric

Cording Foot

Spice up projects or old garments using your Janome sewing machine and Cording Foot, along with a variety of
decorative threads, to create unique effects. On top of the Cording Foot there are three slots in which to place
decorative threads. When you select one of the appropriate stitches, the threads are couched to your fabric as the
decorative threads easily feed through the foot. You can match the sewing thread to the decorative thread or use a
contrasting thread for a more distinct look. You may even want to consider a variegated thread as stand out thread
option.

As pictured, for something different, don’t stitch those decorative threads to the end. Put those scissors away, and keep those threads long, for that sassy tassel look! Alternatively if using cord, you can do the same thing, but remember the days of the old school yard, and plait those ends.

You can also use this foot for shirring (see below image), by using the thread guides to hold your elastic in place whilst sewing. Nice one!

Janome T Foot for sewing buttons onto garments using a sewing machine

Quick and easy button sewing with a special button sewing foot… Who would have thought? Hand sewing buttons is a thing of the past! This foot has two bars that attach to the foot holder to provide extra stability and also has a textured, rubber sleeve to hold the button securely in place while sewing.

Simply select a zigzag stitch, adjust the stitch width to 3.5mm, drop your feed dogs, place your button under the foot
(ensuring on the zig and zag motion the needle enters the holes on the button) and commence sewing. It’s that easy!

Your machine may also feature a pre-programmed stitch function ready to sew a button on, or your machine may
have built in sewing applications, making this easy task even easier.

You can also use the button sewing technique to decorate quilts and other craft projects, helping them to stand out
by giving them a 3D effect.

February – Janome Clear View Quilting Foot Set

Janome Clear View Quilting Foot Set

The ultimate 3 in 1 Clear View Quilting Foot Set allows you to easily switch from a clear view quilting foot, to a ¼” seam foot or even a “Stitch in the Ditch” foot. Designed for maximum ease of use, you will enjoy many JANOME original ideas such as the oval hole for adjusting the needle drop position, which also gives you more support around the needle, improving the quality of your straight stitch.

Clear View Quilting

Some quilting techniques may require you to sew with some fabric under the fabric guide, so use the clear view foot without a guide to help the fabric move easily under the foot. The markings on the foot act as a guide for ¼” and ⅛” seams. Now you don’t need to worry about your ¼” fabric guide bending or loosing shape.

¼” Seaming

Simply attach the ¼” fabric guide which aligns with the edge of the material to produce an accurate ¼” seam with ease. The oval hole in the clear view foot allows for needle adjustments of up to 1 mm to create a scant ¼” seam, and the ¼” guide locks into place so that it doesn’t move when it is butted up against the edge of your fabric. GREAT!

Ditch Quilting

Add dimension to your quilt using the “stitch in the ditch” technique. The center guide attached to the foot spreads the fabric to allow the needle to get right into the seam giving you perfect stitching in the ditch, making your quilt truly professional. Don’t stop with straight ditch stitching, be creative and experiment with eye catching embellishments on quilts, patchwork, bags and garments using the triple straight stitch with a variegated or metallic thread.

January – Janome Straight Stitch Foot

Janome Straight Stitch Foot in use

The Straight Stitch Foot can be used on all types and thicknesses of fabric. This foot is flat on the underside to provide an even pressure against the feed dogs, resulting in improved feeding. It also features a rounded needle hole, which offers the benefit of more support around the needle to prevent skipped stitches and puckering. This foot is often overlooked, as it seems very simple in application and some what unnecessary, however the final stitch results are unrivalled, giving you an impeccable straight stitch.

When sewing on fine fabrics, you can further improve stitch results by also using a straight stitch needle plate with your straight stitch foot.
