How to Format the USB Stick for Machine Embroidery

Before the USB (or ATA Card) can be used to store and transfer your embroidery designs, the embroidery file system must be created on the drive. The easy method to achieve this is to connect a new (or freshly formatted) USB stick (or ATA card) to your machine, open a pre-loaded design from your machine, go to the edit function, and then save the design on the device. This will set up the folder structure and the saved design acts as a reminder of the correct saving location for your machine.

How to Transfer Embroidery Designs on to a USB Stick

It’s straightforward to transfer a design from your PC to a USB Stick or ATA Card (compact flash card) without using Janome software. Place the.jef files inside the main folder on PCs with only a main folder. Place the.jef files in the sub-folder on machines with a sub-folder in addition to a main folder. The file directories will differ from one system to the next, but the technique will remain consistent.
